Give yourself 20 quiet minutes, a comfortable position and a pair of headphones. That is the whole preparation.
Treat the session as a focused psychological exercise, the same way you would treat a workout or a meditation. You are not handing anything over. You stay awake, you stay aware, and you can open your eyes whenever you want.
The setup that works best
- Use headphones
- Sit or lie down comfortably
- Choose a quiet environment
- Remove distractions
Headphones matter more here than most people expect. They keep the voice close and they keep the room out, so your attention has one thing to follow instead of three.
Pick a spot where you will not be interrupted. Phone on silent, door closed, notifications off. If someone is likely to walk in, you will spend the session half listening for the handle.
Do not multitask
This is the one rule with no flexibility. Never listen while driving or operating machinery. Hypnosis asks for your attention, and anything that needs your reflexes is the wrong place for it.
That also rules out the small stuff. Answering messages, cooking, scrolling. The session works because your focus narrows, and every extra task widens it back out.
This is where hypnosis and our audio programs differ. A subliminal program can run quietly in the background while you work or sleep. A hypnosis session cannot.
Come in curious, not forceful
Approach each session with curiosity and openness, rather than expectation or force. Trying hard to feel something is itself a kind of tension, and tension is the opposite of what you are doing.
Some people feel deeply relaxed the first time. Others notice very little and wonder whether it worked at all. Both are normal, and depth is not the thing that decides whether a session works.
Just listen, follow the voice where it goes, and let your mind wander when it wants to. It comes back on its own.
A few practical things
Go to the bathroom first. Have water nearby. If you tend to get cold sitting still, put a blanket within reach before you start rather than getting up halfway through.
If you are listening in bed at night, expect that you may drift off. That is fine, and for evening sessions it is often the point.
If you have not chosen a session yet, you can browse the hypnosis sessions here, and this page covers how often to listen.
