Who Should Not Use Hypnosis Sessions?

Hypnosis sessions are built for adults who can sit down, listen from beginning to end, and give the recording their full attention. Three groups should leave them alone:

  • Children
  • Anyone listening while driving, working or otherwise multitasking
  • Anyone who just wants something playing quietly in the background

Why we exclude children

The scripts are written in adult language for adult goals, and they assume the listener chose the session deliberately. We do not write them for kids and we do not test them on kids, so we do not recommend them for kids.

Never while you are doing something else

A session walks you inward and narrows your attention on purpose. That is how hypnosis works. You stay awake and in control the whole time, and you can open your eyes and stop at any second, but you still need to be somewhere you are free to drift.

So driving is out. So is cooking, answering emails or keeping half an eye on the kids. A session you interrupt halfway through will not do much for you, and you will probably just end up irritated with it.

Pick a chair or a bed, put your phone on silent, and give the recording the room it needs. There is more on the setup in preparing for a session.

Background listening is what subliminals are for

If you want audio that runs while you work or sleep, use a subliminal program instead. Those are made for exactly that. You play them at 10 to 50 percent volume, they sit under whatever else you have going on, and they ask nothing of your attention.

Plenty of people use both. Sessions when you have the time to sit with one, subliminals for every other hour of the day.

If someone is already treating you

These are audio recordings for personal use. They do not replace care you are receiving from a doctor or a therapist, and they are not meant to. If you are being treated for something, physical or mental, ask the person treating you before you add hypnosis on top of it.

Same answer if anything else about it makes you uneasy. Ask first, then decide. You can read what we do and do not claim in are hypnosis sessions safe.

Still stuck?

If this did not answer it, the rest of the Help Center might, and we answer every email personally.
